The Creed: What You Believe and Why
(Nashville, TN: Thomas Nelson, 2002), 69
The rest of the Son
He ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. Christ is described as being seated. This implies two things. First, the task He was given on earth is completed, and He is at rest. The Son here rests in much the same way that He rested after the sixth day of creation. He finished the work of creation and turned to the task of sustaining it. Jesus, having completed His redemption of mankind, turns to His second task: Intercession. Jesus is pleading with the Father on our behalf (Heb 7:24–25).
