Prayer and Christ’s merit

Perhaps fewer petitions and more urging of the merit of Christ would make better prayers. If we were shorter in what we ask for but longer in pleading the reason why we should obtain it, we might prevail more easily.

I suggest that we use fewer nails, but take care that those nails are driven in with Calvary’s blood-stained hammer and clenched with this argument—‘For Jesus’ sake.’
